What is the difference between the type of awnings?
The types of awnings differ firstly in terms of the protection they give to the fabric roll against the elements when closed. The mechanisms, including the folding arms, are made of aluminium and stainless steel and are therefore extremely weather-resistant and do not necessarily require protection. Another aspect, which is often more important to customers, is the appearance of the awning when it is closed. What is left on show? For customers with high requirements in terms of design, we also offer either a design projection profile or a luxury chrome finish for the side parts of some models. For additional sun protection and privacy, there are also special models designed as double awnings. There are rather more technical considerations relating to the possible size of the awning (the maximum projection always depends on the width) and the resulting stability. An awning has to withstand a great deal in the course of its long life, a fact that we take as read for our high-quality, tried and tested brand awnings.
What are open folding arm awnings?
Open folding arm awnings are mainly used in areas in which the closed awning is in a protected position, e.g. under a roof overhang. The retracted fabric and mechanism (including folding arms) are open and are therefore exposed to the elements with relatively little protection. A rain cover is available as an option to provide basic protection. As with all of our awnings, the high-quality aluminium and stainless steel components are durable and weather-resistant. For many customers, the look is the most important aspect. With open folding arm awnings, the valance is all that conceals the mechanism and arms, and they are always visible from below. Open folding arm awnings are used classically in sheltered positions on balconies and terraces.
Markisen ERHARDT offers the following open folding arm awnings:
What are sleeve awnings?
The sleeve awning offers full all-round protection for the retracted fabric roll. The awning fabric lies in a protective aluminium sleeve. The mechanism and folding arms are uncovered, but this does not cause any technical problems. All components are made from weather-resistant aluminium and stainless steel and ensure reliable long-term functionality. In contrast to cassette awnings, with sleeve awnings the folding arms are visible when the awning is closed. The ERHARDT BS-H Deluxe has an elegant design extension profile in place of a fabric valance. A truly delightful solution.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following sleeve awnings:
What are cassette awnings?
The cassette awning combines the best protection with an elegant appearance. When closed, the fabric roll, folding arms and mechanism cannot be seen as they are completely enclosed by the cassette. We offer cassettes of various designs to suit the size of the fabric roll and the customer’s tastes.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following cassette awnings:
What are double awnings?
The practical double awning is a sophisticated trend-setter that brings appreciable benefits and real added value. You can lower the double awning vertically by up to 1.70 m from the extension profile (with a crank mechanism or remote-controlled motor) to increase the shaded area significantly. The vertical awning also provides very effective shade against the glare of the sun when it is low in the sky. The Soltis fabric designs allow you to see out but protect you from the prying eyes of those outside.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following awnings optionally as double awnings:
What are pergola awnings?
Pergola awnings are a combination of awning and pergola. The slim supports that carry the rails for the awning fabric make the pergola awning very sturdy. From a pitch of 15°, it can also be used as a rain cover. The pergola awning is the ideal solution even in exposed, windy locations. It can be fitted both to balconies and to terraces. Even large pergola awnings can be extended and retracted easily with a wireless remote control.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following pergola awnings:
What are conservatory awnings?
Conservatory awnings are fitted to conservatories, terrace roofs and larger roof windows using rails. With appropriate accessories (remote-controlled motor and sun sensor), conservatory awnings will extend automatically when the sun shines. This prevents inside areas from overheating from the outset. With an overhang, shade can also be provided to special areas (e.g. conservatories with hipped roofs).
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following conservatory awnings:
What are vertical awnings?
Vertical awnings are fitted directly to a façade (e.g. glass façade or window) and can be moved up and down either manually or by means of sensors. They are usually operated by wireless motor and remote control. Interiors are provided with optimal protection against overheating, dazzling sunlight and prying eyes. Vertical awnings (also known as façade awnings) can also enhance the appearance of a building façade or be used as part of the façade design. The Soltis fabric designs allow you to see out but protect you from the prying eyes of those outside.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following vertical awnings:
What are window and facade awnings?
The ERHARDT Window and façade awnings provide professional and convenient shading for windows and glass surfaces in different sizes. Window awnings are mounted directly onto the façade or the window. They can be operated manually or by means of a sensor. The handling is often done by wireless motor and remote control. In addition to the protection of the insight from overheating and dazzling sun the window awnings serve as an optic enhancement and surplus of design for your façade. Hence the building benefits of a new and unique charm. The Soltis fabric designs enable an unobstructed view to the outside but offer an efficient and optimal protection against curious glances from the outside.
ERHARDT Markisen offers the following window and facade awnings:
What is a wind protection and privacy wall?
Wind protection and privacy walls can be used on both terraces and balconies. They are available in various heights and there is a free choice of projection. The wind protection and privacy wall can also be used as a space divider (on a balcony). It can be extended or retracted as required. Depending on the height and position, it can be the perfect protection against prying eyes. The strong brackets available in different designs also ensure adequate stability in windy conditions. That’s why wind protection and privacy walls are often used in exposed locations (e.g. balconies on upper floors, houses out in the countryside) or where there are draughts.
